On May 1, 2025, the revised QB/T 2698-2024 "Door Closer" industry standard officially came into effect, replacing the 2013 version that had been in use for more than a decade, and injecting new impetus into the standardized development of the industry. The revision of this standard took four years to complete, covering the entire process of project approval, drafting, soliciting opinions, and finalization through defense. It brought together industry technical experts and manufacturing enterprises to participate, based on the current development status of the domestic market, and comprehensively optimized the product technical requirements and testing system.
The new standard significantly expands the scope of application, incorporating the safety requirements for electric door closers into the specification for the first time, and clarifying core indicators such as their electrical performance, protection level, and emergency response, thus filling the previous gap in standards for this specific segment. In terms of product classification and marking, the standard adopts a more scientific coding system, which accurately classifies door closers according to their installation methods, load-bearing capacity, and functional characteristics, facilitating application in architectural design, procurement selection, and quality inspection processes. In terms of testing procedures, new items such as high and low-temperature environmental adaptability testing and long-term fatigue life testing have been added. Products are required to work normally in an environment of -20℃ to +50℃, and the number of door closing cycle tests shall not be less than 500,000 times, an increase of 30% compared with the old standard.
For the industry, the implementation of the new standard will accelerate market reshuffling, promote small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their production processes and quality control levels, and at the same time provide more clear law enforcement basis for regulatory authorities. According to industry analysis, after the implementation of the standard, the market share of low-end products that do not meet the requirements is expected to drop from the current 15% to below 8%, and the overall qualification rate of the industry is expected to rise to more than 92%. In the future, with the development of intelligent buildings and green buildings, the standard will further integrate new requirements such as IoT compatibility and carbon footprint accounting, continuing to lead the technological upgrading of the industry.
