The development of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) has promoted the evolution of door closers from single functional components to core nodes of the smart security system. The market share of products with intelligent linkage functions continues to increase, becoming an important part of smart building construction. Data shows that the sales volume of door closers with intelligent linkage functions increased by 130% year-on-year in 2024, and it is expected that the number of patent applications for related technologies will exceed 1,200 by 2025.
Intelligent linkage technology is mainly reflected in three application scenarios: First, linkage with access control systems. Through Bluetooth and infrared sensors to identify authorized personnel, it realizes automatic slow closing when passing and forced locking for unauthorized personnel, which not only improves traffic efficiency but also ensures safety, and is widely used in office buildings, parks and other scenarios. Second, linkage with fire protection systems. After receiving the fire alarm signal, it automatically unlocks the door closer and keeps the door open to provide a channel for personnel evacuation while blocking the spread of smoke and fire, in line with the requirements of building fire protection codes. Third, linkage with the smart building management platform. It uploads the operation data of the door closer in real time, including the number of closings, fault early warnings, and energy consumption status. Managers can remotely monitor and adjust through the cloud platform to achieve refined management.
In terms of technological innovation, the AI adaptive adjustment algorithm has become a core breakthrough. Products can automatically optimize operating parameters based on real-time data such as door weight, wind speed, and traffic frequency, controlling the fluctuation of closing speed within ±5% in strong wind environments and automatically slowing down the closing speed during peak hours of human flow. Progress has also been made in low-power technology. Products using DC brushless motors and energy-saving control modules have a standby power consumption as low as 0.5W, and some models can achieve zero-energy operation through photovoltaic power supply modules, in line with the goal of carbon neutrality. In the future, with the popularization of 5G technology and edge computing, door closers will be further integrated into the smart security ecosystem, realizing in-depth collaboration with video surveillance, intrusion alarm and other systems, and building a comprehensive building safety protection system.
