Installation and Acceptance Specifications for Door Closers, a Key Link in Building Safety

The installation quality of door closers directly affects their performance and safety assurance capabilities. According to industry sampling inspection data, more than 30% of product faults are caused by improper installation. Therefore, strictly following the installation and acceptance specifications is crucial. The new version of the industry standard implemented in 2025 further clarifies the installation technical requirements, providing a unified basis for construction and acceptance.
Three preparations should be made before installation: First, check the compatibility between the product model and the door body, ensuring that the rated load-bearing weight and closing force of the door closer match the weight and size of the door body. Grade 2-3 door closers are commonly used for ordinary civil doors, and Grade 4 or above should be selected for heavy doors. Second, check the installation environment. The door frame and door leaf should be firmly connected, the installation surface should be flat, and sufficient installation space should be reserved to avoid interference with components such as door locks and hinges. Third, prepare special installation tools and accessories, including torque wrenches, expansion bolts, and sealants, to ensure installation accuracy.
The installation process should follow the principles of "accurate positioning, firm fixing, and flexible adjustment". During positioning, the installation position should be determined according to the opening direction of the door (left-opening or right-opening) and the installation method (door frame type or door leaf type), ensuring that the main body of the door closer is smoothly connected to the connecting rod without forced force. During fixing, high-strength bolts should be used, and the tightening torque should meet the requirements of the product manual to avoid abnormal noise or falling off caused by loose fixing. The adjustment link is the key. It is necessary to adjust the door closing speed valve and force valve to make the door opening angle reach more than 90°, the closing process stable without impact or jamming, the closing time appropriately controlled between 3-8 seconds, and the door can be effectively sealed after closing, with the bolt smoothly falling into the lock plate.
The acceptance standards mainly include four core indicators: First, functional integrity. The door closer can automatically close the door body, realizing stable operation throughout the stroke without incomplete closing or rebound. Second, safety performance. The closing speed is moderate, without causing impact injury to personnel, and can be opened manually quickly in emergency situations. Third, durability. After 1,000 opening and closing tests, there is no significant attenuation in performance. Fourth, appearance quality. The installation is firm and neat, without scratches or deformation, and the sealing is good without oil leakage. After passing the acceptance, an installation and acceptance record form should be filled out for filing and future reference, and a maintenance guide should be provided to the user to ensure the long-term stable operation of the product.
